Task1: What do you think can improve your local community and make it a better place to live?

Well, I think my community should add more parking places, which will definitely improve the living experience. First, there are more and more cars, but the parking places never increase, so every now and then we have trouble finding a place to park our cars. What’s worse, many people park their cars on the sidewalks, which causes serious traffic congestion.

Second, some residents take the public space for private use. That is, they installed ground lock to prevent other cars to park, which I think is very selfish. Hence, I believe a re-planning of the public area and build more parking lots will definitely improve the community.

Task2: Some people like to make decision based on their own experience while other people prefer to ask others for help such as family and friends. Which do you prefer and why?

Well, personally speaking, I prefer to ask my family and friends for help if I shall make an important decision on something I am not familiar with. First, two heads are always better than one. If you are not certain about something, it’s always better to resort to others for help.

Take myself for example, when I had to make a choice between two job offers after graduation, I honestly didn’t know how to choose. So I asked my parents, since they both have a work-span for over 30 years, they surely could give me some useful advice. And it turned out to be the right thing to do, for their advice was very constructive and I was very satisfied with the job I chose.

(2018.1.28) Task 1: There are many events at school, which were negative when we confronted initially, and got positive after we experienced. Please give an example of such an event and include specific details in your answer.

示范:well, I’d like to talk about the various group presentations I took part in when I was a freshman at college. At first, I saw no point in working in a group and giving a presentation as a final assignment. I thought it was a waste of time. However, I changed my mind after seeing what we had achieved as a group at the end of the semester and I came to understand that I actually had learned a lot in this way.

For example, I used to feel very nervous to make a presentation in front of the class, but after several times of trying, I was pretty calm and confident and talkative. My friends said I even got a sense of humor, which was a nice thing to hear.

Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the statement: Students should not be allowed to record lectures in class?

Well, in my opinion, students should be allowed to record lectures in class. First, some courses are just very difficult to understand, and some students would like to listen to the lecture for a second chance just to keep up with the class. For example, I once had difficulty in learning Calculus and I really need to listen again to understand the concepts and figures, otherwise i wouldn’t even pass the final exam.

Second, I think most students can not keep highly concentrated on the lecturing the whole time, they just get distracted every now and then and may miss something quite important. So it is really necessary to listen one more time.
